(More coming soon! But here's a few, there are so many to explore!)

Map of wainwrights.jpg

The Northern Wainwrights

There is a great map of the Wainwrights which shows you just how close we are to the Northern fells. You can do a days walk that ticks a few off, or why not take you time and enjoy lots of other lovely walks in the area too.

Skiddaw

The fourth highest mountain in England, at a 931m, this is a good strenuous 11.5 mile walk from the campsite via Bakestall, Carlside, Longside, and Ullock Pike (that's 5 wainwrights!).

Starting with a gentle scenic stroll up to Dash Falls, then finishing along the spectacular ridge of Ullock Pike. This is definetly a great Lake District Adventure, and why not stop for a well earned pint in the Sun Inn on your way back up to the campsite.  Click the button to see one route idea for Skiddaw

Dodd Wood

Dodd Wood

You can walk from the campsite and stop off at the Old Sawmill Tea Room or drive and park at Dodd Wood for a variety of walks.

Walks to the summit and get spectacular views, meander up to the Osprey viewing station and see if you can spy and Ospreys, or simply explore the various trails and streams around the woods.

Here is a map of some of the walking trails in Dodd Wood

Little Cockup & Great Cockup

A gentle introduction to a great local wainwright, starting of through scenic rolling fields, about a 6 mile walk from the campsite if you summit great cockup.

Dash Falls

Dash Falls

A short gentle climb from the campsite, it's easy accessible and a track most of the way. Lovely views from the top, and if you want to extent it why not it a more of an adventurous loop and the hike over Great Calva, Bakestall or towards Skiddaw House

Binsey

You can walk from the site, or park near the bottom of this small wainwright. Its a short climb to the top with great views looking out onto the northern fells and towards to sea!

Bassenthwaite Lake

There's a few places you can park up and get by the lakeside, but you can walk down to the lake from the campsite. There's always the option to stop at the Sun Inn on the way back up, or even take a detour midway through and visit the Castle Inn.

Ling Fell AND SALE FELL

A short drive away, are two lovely little hills with great views. The link to the map below, shows you a small parking area you can park at and a route that combines both hills. But you can just do one or the other if you don't want to do both.
