nICHOL eND mARINE, Keswick
You can hire kayaks, paddleboards, canoes, rowing boats and if you know how you can sail too! It's only a 20 minute drive from the campsite, Nichol End Marine at Portinscale, Keswick is a lovely family friendly and dog friendly place to visit, individuals and groups welcome too. All costs include wetsuit, buoyancy aid hire and dry bags. There's even a cafe there so you can enjoy a well deserved cup of tea and slice of cake.

Bassenthwaite Lake
The only 'official' lake in the Lake District! It's only a couple of miles away and you can see it from the campsite. You can take a long stroll through the fields there, or drive down for a wild swim or paddle. Bassenthwaite is not a busy lake so its usually lovely and peaceful there.
Here is a ​Map of the Lake. You do need a permit to paddle on Bassenthwaite Lake, it's £7 for the day or £20 for the full week and you can buy one online here
Derwent water
Based in Keswick, so only just a short drive away, Derwent Water is a great place to paddle, swim or take a cruise. You can launch your own boats or there are a few places around the lake where you can hire them.

Bassenthwaite sailing club
Situated on the North Western shore of Bassenthwaite Lake, they are a private club but welcome new members. See the link below to find out more information and about membership options.
